Friday in August. Not just any Friday. Beaches are packed. The steamer leaves at midnite. Oh wait, no boats here, just Carnival cruises in Ensenada tomorrow. Company visiting tomorrow.

Teach you children well…

6 Aug

Peace and religious harmony come about through taking action, not necessarily through making prayers and good wishes. In order to carry action out, enthusiasm is very important, and enthusiasm comes from being clear about our goal and the possibility of our fulfilling it. “There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.”

-W. Somerset Maugham

If you feign to be what you wish

that others may think that you are

permit not yourself to believe it

remember it’s but a facade.

Truly, the worth of a man

is the effort exerted to bridge

the distance between what he is

and that person he wishes he were.

Brother Nate Quote

Nathaniel Hawthorne, “Easy reading is damn hard writing.”

5 Aug

…that I already published two posts. But I thought I had written only one.

They’re encouraging me to publish five on this first go-around with the blog. I guess they feel if you can’t think of five things to say, you should stick to Twitter. It is a lot easier to limit your thoughts to 140 words.

… and so far, this is only 63 words. Wow, “No writing errors” on the first draft.
